Wildfire RWF036 Update

Wildfire RWF036 UPDATE 1: May 14, 2026 - 6:45 PM AS PROVIDED BY MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY

According to Alberta Wildfire, the fire has expanded to approximately 200 hectares and remains classified as out of control. Firefighters, supported by air tankers, helicopters, and heavy equipment, remain actively engaged in suppression efforts.

𝐀𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞, 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞, 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬. Mountain View County continues to work closely with provincial agencies and neighbouring municipalities and will provide updates should conditions change or the wildfire move closer to County boundaries. Mountain View County does have appropriate evacuation plans in place in the event that it becomes necessary to action those plans.

Residents travelling in the area are reminded that Highway 40 closures remain in effect due to smoke and wildfire activity. Please monitor official sources for current road closures and wildfire information.
