Sundre Visitors > About Sundre

The economic base in Sundre is vast and offers many possibilities for employees and entrepreneurs alike. The ever-growing tourism trade is due not only to our spectacular surroundings, but also to the active role the local businesses take in the promotion of the Town.

One of the yearly attractions is the Sundre Pro Rodeo, held in the third week in June. The Sundre Parade, held in conjunction with this event, is greatly enjoyed by all who attend. We also boast both a summer and a winter festival and various cultural and fun activities throughout the seasons.

Tourism is just one facet of the economic base, with agriculture, lumber and petroleum industries employing many of our residents.

Sundre is a 'green' town — we want to preserve our natural beauty for generations to come. We actively encourage and employ conservation practices. Recycling and composting programs are in effect and practiced by residents. We also can boast of an active garden club: Sundre is the 1999 and 2000 Alberta Communities in Bloom winner for populations under 5000, showing our commitment to keeping Sundre beautiful.

The Town of Sundre has something to offer for everyone. Please come, visit, and enjoy!
