Controlled Burn in Banff National Park

Parks Canada is planning a controlled burn in the North end of Banff National Park this summer and this burn may produce smoke in the Sundre area. Plans are to start the controlled burn as early as this week however if conditions are not right the burn may be postponed to a later date. There may be short-term impacts from smoke on the Forestry Trunk Road (Hwy 40) and in Sundre. However the planned fire is 85 km west of Sundre so impacts to traffic are not expected.

Updates will be posted on Banff National Park’s website
